Black and White #1: Movement

The top photo is of my Dad, chilling on the couch at home.

The bottom one is of Younger Brother, bunny hopping on his BMX bike on the street in front of our house.

I consider my home town to be Monroe, Louisiana. I went to Neville High School there, and also my first degree is an Associate of Arts Degree from Northeast Louisiana University (now the University of Louisiana - Monroe).

When I was in high school, I was a photographer on the yearbook staff. I learned black and white darkroom techniques and developed photos for the yearbook at school.

Later, when I was in college the first time, in the early 1980s, I took a couple of B&W photography classes for fun. These two photos are scans of B&W negatives from one of my college photography classes.

Taken around 1982-1983. Canon AE-1, 50mm f1.8 lens, Tri-X.

Very nice, especially first one.

It is very good to go back to the roots of your photography life. I often find some interesting shot in my old film negative and find some sort of light for next possible project. I see you are about same age as me and had very smiler passion for taking photos, so I would like to cheer up your new shots coming in the feature.

I was on the yearbook staff also but I learned the darkroom techniques in college. I usually revisit my photos from the mid to late 70's during the winter months when I have nothing to work with...Ü
These are cool photos especially your brother. I love the action of it~
Thanks for visiting my Blogspot Journal, when you have time, take a look at my AOL journal, I post more on there.

Thanks everyone.

moi, I just set a slow shutter speed, like 1/30 of a second, and as my brother rode past me quickly and jumped with his bicycle, I followed him with the camera (panned) and pressed the shutter as he jumped. Ended up with a feeling of action, but still enough detail to make out the subject and what is happening.

Excellent shots, and I especially like the movement of the page in the one of your dad... Happy Easter... Life is good... We are fortunate !!!

We seem to have come from similar places photographically: I was the photographer for our high school annual, and I used that opportunity to learn my way around a darkroom.

It's been quite the ride ever since.

Followed your link here from Anna's. I'm so glad I did: your photography is wonderful!
