You caught the "one legged freeze" of the Blue Heron - on of their best tactics. Believe it or not, we have some of these up here in the mountains. We saw them frequently in Louisiana, and I thought they were strictly a coastal bird until we moved up here.
How far do you live from where you shot this bird? It's an impressive photograph.

I saw a green or blue heron this weekend - but I was about 150 yards away....and the shots I took just weren't clear enough to post. At least I'll have the shots and they will be great memories for me. Hopefully I'll get a clear one to post at some point.

the first time i saw sandhill cranes was on your blog......i love your crane/heron shots.....you always capture them in their candor...
