Dolphin

I saw this fella swimming around in the Indian River Lagoon a couple of weekends ago.

Looking for food, no doubt.

One may see them here or in the ocean quite often, but I never tire of it and I never take it for granted.

"Looking for food" - that would make it a male dolphin, right?

Fantastic! You are so lucky. I have never seen a wild dolphin or whale and I would love to. I like that you don't take it for granted. I think it says a lot about you :)

I would be excited about seeing the dolphin too. I love seeing things free in their natural environment.

It's funny, as soon as I saw that pic I started hearing Jaws music in my head.

I was definitely thinking Jaws, too.

JAM, you must spend hours at the Indian River Lagoon.

So was it a shark? Or a dolphin? I'm confused!!

The fin thing and the "looking for food" thing makes me think shark too! I will take your word for it that it was a dolphin. :)

there's a little seafood restaurant right on a lagoon in vero beach that my grandmother liked to take us to. we always saw dolphins there....you could get a window seat and watch them while you ate. i loved it!

CG: It's definitely a dolphin.

A shark's fin is more triangular with straighter lines.

A dolphin's fin has a more curved front and back edge like the one you see in the top photo.

It's a dolphin.

John, yeah, you're probably right that it's probably male if it's scrounging for food.
