Black and White #17

I loved the way the sunlight made this palm frond glow. I thought the contrast would also make a nice black and white version.

The second photo is of the flag pole and tower of the Melbourne Beach, Florida town complex which houses it's fire department, town hall, and it's police department. Again, another contrasty shot I wanted to see in black and white.

You can see the color versions of these two shots on my other blog, Least Significant Bits, today.

I absolutely love the palm photograph in B&W and colour. It is definitely one of those rare shots that works well as both. Love it! I really liked the second shot in B&W with the flag in colour, it made a great statement!

I liked both the colored and Black and White version of your palm frond, John ...but you are right, the effect is more pronounced in Black and white....and it has to be my imagination but the light and shadow play in the center reminds me of a one dimensional profile of lady Liberty :DDD

Moi, now that you mention it, I see that too. I didn't before though. I did however feel it lookded like some sort of animal, that central section.

I had to look again after I saw Moi's comment - but I can see Lady Libery also. I really like the B&W with the flag in color. I love all Flag pics. Very nice job!

I like both of these! That's such a dramatic sky on the bottom one.

I like colour version of first photo.
I also like the one you desaturated the background of this flag shot.
