Rolling Stones, Superdome, Dec. 1981

I went with some friends to New Orleans from Monroe, Louisiana in 1981. I took my camera apart and tried to hide the lenses, body, etc., under my coat in my armpits and other places to sneak in my camera.

I needn't have bothered. They searched everyone because it was winter, cold, and everyone had on coats. They found my camera and lenses, but didn't care at all. They were looking for folks trying to bring in their own alcohol.

They didn't care that I had a camera, they just didn't want people to have their own booze, so that the beer concession would ring up more sales.

The fastest film one could buy in 1981 was ASA 400. So my pics are just a hair blurry, but I still ended up with some shots that look good a t 4x6 or 5x7.

More important actually is the memories of the event. The pics you show are nice enough and the event is what counts.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I appreciate your comments too.

That would never happen today! It really is all about the memories...we saw U2 and I would have loved to have been able to snap some with my NIKON.....no such luck but they let us snap all we wanted with our cell phone camera! Pretty cool....but hey...that's Bono!

Terrific shots. I'm glad you were able to take these shots for memories.

If I'd been taking photos there they would have been too blurry for I would have been dancing all over the place. Who can resist moving to the music of the Stones?

I would think that at least that first one should gain some monetary value as time goes on?

I was at that concert! I wasn't into photography yet, so I didn't think to bring a camera. I didn't get my first "real" camera until May,1982. Thanks for the memory!
