Black and White #16 : Wrestling Angels

A while back, I posted a couple of pics of a porcelain angel Lovely Wife has in the house.

I was in the mood to play around with stuff in Photoshop Elements and used one of the more constrasty angel photos, and converted it to black and white.

I also tried out some of Element's special effects filters, something I've not done very much because I can't use them to create much that I end up liking. But this angels looked quite dreamy anyway so I made her glow, which, to me, kind of fit her looks. Not great, but kinda neat.

I like the 2nd photo. It looks like a halo around her.

i'll share them with you some day.
and i think Black and white works for it gives that look of purity that one associates with angels :)

Yes, I also like the second photo best. It is very nice. Photoshop CS3 (I think that is what I have) has a lot of filters in it that I seldom get a chance to use. I like to see what others do with them.

ALso, about the visit to my blog and talking about canning, etc. You mentioned your folks said everyone was poor back during World War II. And that is pretty much right. And like they said, everyone was in the same boat so nobody thought much about the neighbors being poor.

We were poorer than most as mom and dad were divorced. So we had no income coming in. Most kids had a father working in the defense industry and we didn't so we had only what little money mom could make taking in washing and ironings.

Not much money. Think two dollars a week for a bushel basket and that was on the cook stove where you heated the irons. So it was a hot year for us. I hated to spade but didn't mind it once I got started.

Thanks for all your visits.

John,
Thanks for contributing to my discussion on "aging".

I can't complain, my twenties have been very blessed and enjoyable. I just hope that my thirties are even better. I believe that they will be. I still have much that I want to accomplish and experience.

I was surprised when you said that you were only 44! That's a compliment, because of the ages of your daughters, I thought you were just a few years older. I did the math and figured out that you were blessed in that you started your family young ;)

I know that I've experienced blessing too though, in not having kids yet.

Like I said, I can't complain.

After all, 30 is the new 20 these days ;)

...Glad you enjoyed the Silver Surfer image.

John, I like that bottom picture. I am kind of like you I don't always like the results I get from those filters in Elements.

I actually like the first one best. I love the soft feel to the photo. If the photo was cropped a bit differently I bet some text would look nice on it.
