More Fishin'

I'm sorry for the lack of inspiration lately. I'm in one of those phases where life is in a bit of turmoil and it is reflected in all I do.

I'm having a tough time just keeping up with everything lately and haven't been in a very creative mood, hence the photo repair posts and just posting straight photos. Like yesterday and today. Not that I've done anything wrong, I just know I can do better.

I want to create photos that inspire me and hopefully others, and I feel as if I've just been "phoning it in" lately.

Enough whining.

Not spectactular, but I admired the effort of whoever built this thing. That's a serious fisherman. Take one wagon bed, build a custom pvc frame to fit your ice chests, tackle boxes, and rods and reels. Then you can just wheel all your stuff out to the end of the jetty or a pier and fish the day away.

I think I was one of the few people out there that day that spoke fluent English. (That is, if you can call my redneck/southern accented speech fluent English.)

Gone Fishin'

This is two views on the same point on a jetty at Sebastian Inlet State Park.

The first photo was taken on the Indian River County side, with the guys.

The second was taken from the Brevard county side, looking at the same point and fishermen from across the inlet.

Where's Waldo?

There are actually a whole bunch of brown pelicans in plain sight in the top photo, but they blend into their napping area quite thoroughly.

This is a picture of the bridge over Sebastian Inlet which marks the border between our county, Brevard, and the county to the south of us, Indian River County.

The second photo is the closeup photo of part of the right hand section of the top photo, and there are 11 brown pelicans visible or partly visible in the photo.

A Brown Pelican and His Feet

I took a pic of this pelican, and then realized that his feet alone told a story, so I zoomed in on them in my next shot and then cropped that a bit.

Yeah, I know, the photo of his feet is a bit soft. Oh well.

That fish hook in his leg broke my heart.

Splish Splash

A couple of boats heading inland through Sebastian Inlet.

Sebastian Inlet is a man-made break made in the barrier island and is the closest access to the Atlantic Ocean for boaters in the Palm Bay and Melbourne, Florida area. It marks the boundary between Brevard and Indian River Counties in Florida.

Love Bug

A few weeks ago I posted a picture on my regular blog's Sunday Picture Post showing the front end of our Camry totally encrusted with love bugs.

Today's Love Bug is much prettier, more colorful, and much more benign than the pest type love bug.

This was in a parking lot at Sebastian Inlet State Park one day. I had to stop for a few photos of it.

Lovely Wife has always wanted herself a lime green VW Beetle, even from way back when the original ones were being made.

I also posted a couple of photos at the very bottom of my other blog's post today. If y'all care to see them.

Hastily Gathered Photos Post

Woops. I ususally figure out the day before which photos I'd like to post. Looks like I was slacking in that department on yesterday evening. Oh well, here goes.

These were taken at Sebastian Inlet State Park, Florida.

The top one is a nice, large jetty sticking out in to the Atlantic on the north side of the inlet to help keep it clear.

The bottom one is pretty self explanatory. A beautiful day AND waves big enough to surf on, if just barely.

Caution! Storks Ahead

Aren't these things hideous looking? I'm sure glad I was too young to remember the stork dropping me off at my parents' house when I was a baby.

Now that I think about it, maybe that's why I'm so twisted, I might have been terrorized by the stork that delivered me and I repressed it...

Gotta get into therapy.

Green Stuff

Photos taken in Sebastian Inlet State Park, Florida.

The little birds would let the small waves wash over them, shake it off, and resume hunting little critters. I'd never seen birds do that before, let a wave hit them. Though admittedly, they weren't big waves, but still.

The second photo was some of the stuff growing in the water. I have no idea what to call it, I'm woefully ignorant of plant's names and even birds names, but it's fun to see and photograph.

Plus, I didn't have to learn to scuba dive to see it either.

Brown Pelicans

These were taken at the Sebastian Inlet I showed and wrote about yesterday. There were all kinds of water fowl there and these pelicans were all trying to take a nap. I chose these guys, because they were still awake. Sorta-kinda awake anyway.

More to come.

Sebastian Inlet Bridge, Florida

Top photo is a shot to try to take in as much of the bridge over the Sebastian Inlet as I could. I'm standing on a jetty that sticks out into the Atlantic just a little bit and am looking back toward the bridge, and mainland Florida beyond that.

The bottom photo is where I got down near the base of the bridge on the north side of it, and took a picture of the foundations, the big rocks, and the beautiful water with the shadows cast by the bridge. There many, many people there fishing, and those two guys in the picture climbed down onto that pillar, where they weren't supposed to go.

This is about fifteen miles, as the crow flies, from where I live. Thirty miles to drive there. It is the closest access for boats to the Atlantic Ocean from where I live. It's called Sebastian Inlet. I don't own a boat, but it's a really neat place to visit. There's a small visitor's center and museum, but I didn't go in that day.

There is a Florida State Park at Sebastian Inlet that takes in both sides of the cut through the barrier island. I went there this past Sunday afternoon to take in some of the beautiful weather, and to take some photos with my new lens.

It was nice to wander around and there were lots and lots of birds; storks, pelicans, egrets, cranes.
