This is the only small old Ma and Pa type grocery store in the area, that I know about at any rate.
Their ice cold Cokes are a treat after a hot day at the beach.
The look, smell, super friendly service and everything about this great little store is a wonderful trip down memory lane for those of us who can remember when these types of places were the only game in town, from before I'd ever even heard of Kroger or Piggly Wiggly.

cg, Piggly Wiggly was a Southern US grocery store chain that was around when I was a kid. It's a dumb name, but definitely one that sticks in the mind. They had a smiling pig for their logo.
And kids being kids, we thought we were SO funny by calling the stores Hoggly Woggly instead of Piggly Wiggly.
Sounds as if they are pig lovers-ha.

I know exactly what you mean about these stores being so much better than the large chains. We have the same thing in the UK. It seesm that the small stores care much more about their customers.
