Betty Boop

Taken in front of a great little store in downtown Melbourne, Florida.

The store is full of nick-nacks that the owner picks out herself from all over the world. They're much, much cooler than the kind of things you find in department stores and malls.

Hey, I'm a guy, and even I still love to walk around in this store and always see stuff I'd like to have. Only problem is that engineers are the blue collar workers of the white collar world and my wallet already groans under the weight of my photography addiction. For instance, this table was for sale at $325US, and my mind immediately kicked into gear and said, hey for just $150 more, I could buy that macro lens...

But alas, I bought neither. Such is my life.

Speaking strictly from a man's point of view, I think Betty is still pretty cute for a lady her age.

More Rolling Stones, 1981

Here are a couple more photos from the Rolling Stones concert I attended at the New Orleans Superdome in December of 1981.


I remember it had been years since the Rolling Stones had toured the US, and there was all kinds of talk about how they were still going strong although they were all around 37 or 38 years old at the time.

That's funny, because 26 years after these photos, they're still the highest grossing (money wise) rock band in the world.

If they were US citzens, they would qualify for Social Security and Medicaid benefits.

Rolling Stones, Superdome, Dec. 1981

I went with some friends to New Orleans from Monroe, Louisiana in 1981. I took my camera apart and tried to hide the lenses, body, etc., under my coat in my armpits and other places to sneak in my camera.

I needn't have bothered. They searched everyone because it was winter, cold, and everyone had on coats. They found my camera and lenses, but didn't care at all. They were looking for folks trying to bring in their own alcohol.

They didn't care that I had a camera, they just didn't want people to have their own booze, so that the beer concession would ring up more sales.

The fastest film one could buy in 1981 was ASA 400. So my pics are just a hair blurry, but I still ended up with some shots that look good a t 4x6 or 5x7.

Father In Law's Photos

The other day, I mentioned my Father In Law having been a good photographer. I thought I would show a couple of his 35mm slides.

This first photo is of Lovely Wife when she was a little girl, rockin' the toy guitar.


This photo is of Sis In Law, with her and Lovely Wife's Grandpa Morgan.

Black and White #5

I guess these pics don't really need much in the way of comments.

The top one though, was interesting. This pattern of cotton twine was on a palm tree near it's base. I think the cross shape was accidental.

The other photo is just a B&W version of a shot I took going to the beach at one of our favorite locations down here.

Mobile Bay, 1983

These are a couple of my old 35mm slides that I have scanned. They were taken on a day where we went to tour the USS Alabama, a WWII era battleship that is moored there.

The first one is a small boat at the edge of Mobile Bay in Mobile, Alababama. I did the Photoshop Elements version of the Orton process to give it a dreamy look.

The second photo is of fishing boats and hopeful birds circling them out in Mobile Bay. This photo was actually taken while standing on the deck of the battleship. Notice the one little island out there in the bay too. Beyond the island is the Gulf of Mexico.

June 1st Already?

I wanted to post something deep and meaningful, but all I could come up with was light and fluffy.

The first photo is the WWI Flying Ace Smiley Face on the antenna of my Ford Taurus. A gift from Lovely Wife.

The second photo was of the custom paint job on this Chevy Avalanche, taken near the boat ramp on Lake Toho in Kissimmee, Florida. The company is called Big Toho Airboat Rides. I've lived here ten years and still haven't ridden on an airboat.
